Policy and Procedure Register

The Policy and Procedure Register provides staff and the broader community with access to all Department of Education policy instruments.

The register demonstrates transparency and accountability to promote understanding of how we operate, and supports the principles of the Right to Information Act​. 

Policy Instruments

Policy instruments include legislation, policies, directives, standards, procedures, delegations and authorisations, guidelines and supporting information. The Policy Management Framework and supporting policy and procedure​ set the department’s approach to policy and procedure management.

Interim arrangements as we transition to a redeveloped register

A project has been initiated to improve the register's user friendliness and functionality.

The redesigned register will provide a contemporary approach to store, search, navigate and access departmental policies and procedures.

In the interim, new policies and procedures are being developed with a revised content structure.

Policy instrument authors can access the departmental policy and procedure templates on the Policy and Procedure Register OnePortal page (DoE employees only).


Updates page

The Policy instrument updates list provides information on recent changes to policy instruments. This includes new, upcoming, significantly reviewed and decommissioned policy instruments.


  • A search function is available at the top right of this website.
  • The first point of contact for questions regarding a policy or procedure is listed under the ‘contact’ heading in the relevant policy or procedure.
  • The Policy and Procedure Regi​ster team can answer general queries about using the register.
  • Guides and tools are available for policy instrument authors and owners on OnePortal​ (DoE employees only).
